Thanksgiving 2006
This year's Thanksgiving Party was a smashing (great, big) success! We
kicked things off (started) at the Center wih a fine presentation on
the history of Thanksgiving by our very own Jeanette. I and the other
American students offered some tidbits (pieces of information) on our
own Thanksgiving traditions. After, Kenny acted as MC while the
contestants, our guests, enjoyed aperos and filled out the quiz. We
were a little crowded, with about 50 people in attendance, but we had
a great time. With congratulations to the winners,Jim Kiren and Co.,
we headed over to the American restaurant, Jefferson's, for our
Thanksgiving feast. And what a feast it was! Although I was a little
sad to be away from my family on this important holiday, I was not
disappointed by the food. There were sweet potatoes, regular potatoes,
cranberries, and turkey. Not to mention the dessert! Like in America,
after dinner I found it hard to move, I was so full. I did enjoy one
new aspect for me – wine with the meal. It was a nice touch. During
dinner we had another quiz with new winners. Congratulations to
Genevieve and Willy! Jefferson's was a great location for the event
and the staff was very helpful. There was a buffet line on the first
level, and due to our large numbers the group was split between one
table upstairs and two downstairs. All in all, I was very pleased with
this French rendition of Thanksgiving.
